How It Works

Quick Answer

Ratios are calculated from actual market prices — not theoretical formulas. We fetch real quotes for all 12 instruments and derive the exact relationship between each index, its futures contract, and its ETF. Enter any value and the converter applies the real ratio.

Stock market indices like the S&P 500 (SPX) represent baskets of stocks measured in points. ETFs like SPY are exchange-traded funds designed to track those indices at a fraction of the price. Futures contracts (ES, NQ, YM, RTY) are derivatives that track the index value and trade nearly 24 hours a day.

The conversion ratio between an index and its ETF stays relatively stable but shifts slightly over time due to dividends, fees, and market conditions. Our converter uses live data when available, or reliable default ratios for quick estimates.
